Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has approved the decision to expand the categories of eligible individuals for the 10-year “golden” residency visa.
The new categories now include: PhD holders, doctors, engineers in the fields of computer engineering, electronics, programming, electricity and biotechnology. It also includes graduates from accredited universities with a GPA of 3.8 or more.
The golden visa will also be granted to holders of specialized degrees in artificial intelligence, big data, or epidemiology and virology in addition to UAE high-school top graduates along with their families.
In May this year, Sheikh Mohammed decided to award 10-year residency visas to doctors of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) who were providing direct medical services to COVID-19 patients.
The golden visa scheme was announced last year in the hope that it would generate foreign investment, encourage entrepreneurship, and attract top engineers, scientists and students to UAE.
